The strikes against the RFK Foundation‘s mass bailout of those held at Rikers Island prior to their court dates are adding up. The poster child of the movement was arrested for a 13th time recently, and now another released as part of the effort has broken into a state assemblyman’s office, got stoned, and then stole toys from a Christmas donation box intended for needy kids.
Whoops…
Tamika West is 44 years old and has been arrested 27 times since 2008 for a variety of offenses, including drug possession, burglary, and prostitution. She was awaiting trial at Rikers when the RFK Foundation paid the $750 for her bail. She got out on October 3.
20 Days Later…
On October 23, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest when she failed to appear for her court date. Said one law enforcement officer of the RFK foundation and its namesake Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy:
While he was a great social-justice advocate, he never compromised the security of our nation’s communities in the interest of a political campaign. It’s shocking that a social-justice advocacy group would compromise public safety and completely disregard the victims of these criminals. Obviously this woman should not be out on the street, and it is more obvious that RFK should investigate a lot more thoroughly who they bail out.
It Gets Worse…

But West wasn’t finished…by a long shot. After not showing up for her court date less than two months ago, she decided it would be a good idea to break into state assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz’s office in the Bronx on December 4. She then proceeded to get stoned, steal toys from the donation box, and grab a $500 check from Dinowitz’s checkbook and sign it to herself.
Dinowitz, a Democrat who wants Rikers closed and cash bail eliminated, noted:
They bailed out a person who was arrested several dozen times already. She would not have been there but for them.
Well played RFK Foundation…well played, indeed!
